Our Story

The founder of the Giggling Pigs is Mike Cartechine.  In the summer of 2003 Mike and his wife Angela held a party for family and friends at their home in Hamburg.  With a borrowed smoker from a friend and a dream Mike successfully made 80 people fall in love with his bbq cooking.  People were caught off guard that a boy from Ohio could make such great bbq! 

The success of the party prompted Mike to enter the 2004 Oinktoberfest in Clarence, NY.  Unbeknownst to his team he entered the professional division of the BBQ Competition.  Cooking through the night paid off for Mike and his team.  They were absolutely thrilled when they took 2nd place in Pork and 5th in Brisket.  For competiting in their first KCBS (Kansas City Barbecue Society) event this was phenomenal! 

Now the fire had been lit Mike and Angela were blessed with a new addition to their family.  On March 18, 2004 the Cartechine Family took delivery of a 21 foot custom made smoker built by Dave Klose from Houston, Texas!  And so the story begins of good laughs, good eats and a lot of giggling!
